Todays (9 July 2017) bike ride of approximately 13 miles took us out of Ifield West and along Kilnwood Lane, but this week we cut through Furze Field woods to join Faygate Lane at Seers Croft, near the Lambs Green turn off. We then took the bridleway to Wimland Road via Rusper Court before heading off road again across a (very dry) field of wheat to join the Rusper to Horsham Road opposite Green Lane.
A speedy trip down Green Lane to Langhurst Wood Road followed and we made an attempt to visit the clay pits via a footpath, but the path wasn't very bike friendly, mainly due to some steep steps down to a bridge over a stream, so we abandoned that idea and headed up Friday Street to the Capel Road, past the Royal Oak.
An about turn there and a left at Porters Farm put us on the Sussex Border Path. Unfortunately, with my phone battery on critical, we chose the wrong path at a fork and found ourselves some distance from the path in Horesgills Wood. A quick re tracing of steps found us back on the path mere seconds before my phone shut down (phew!) showing we had travelled 8.6 miles whilst still approx. a mile West of Rusper.
After ascending the hill to Rusper Playing fields and a quick pit stop at The Star, we took the path behind the Star back to Lambs Green, deciding to take the Stumblehome Farm route this week as neither of us fancied the climb up Hyde Hill.
