Went for a walk round the north western end of Bewbush this morning, through the water gardens and into whats left of Gasson Wood. We were looking for evidence of 'Mill Farm', which stood by the railway foot crossing and is showing on maps as late as 1960, but we found no evidence of it all, apart from a couple of flat areas in the wood with immature trees which is presumably where it stood.
What we did find though was evidence of Bewbush Mill. This is shown on old maps is being in a disused state as long ago as 1879 and was fed by Bewbush Pond, which was bigger than Ifield Mill Pond, but it's now not much more than a stream.
The sluice gate and damn are still there and I've added an old map to show where it was, which is now the footpath from the rail crossing to Bewbush West playing fields.
The next 11 pictures show the site of Bewbush Mill.
